Kathrine "Kate" Jack was raised in Greenfield, Indiana and graduated from Greenfield-Central High School.
Ms. Jack earned her bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University Bloomington majoring in Political Science and Economics. She was awarded the James Moffat Book Award for outstanding economics students. Upon graduation, Ms. Jack worked as a statistical research analyst for the department of health care economics at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Her research areas included mental health care policy, public and private health insurance coverage, and health care costs. Ms. Jack also had the opportunity to study at Columbia University during her employment and took courses in international affairs and business.
Ms. Jack graduated cum laude from Indiana University's Maurer School of Law. She served as president and treasurer of the school's chapter of the American Constitution Society and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, Adams Chapter. Ms. Jack had legal internships with the American Arbitration Association, and New York City Police Department Patrolman's Benevolent Association. She was also staff attorney at the National Advocates for Pregnant Women in New York before returning to her hometown to practice law.
